CULTURAL & ENVIRONMENT

An elders led organisation helping reconnect Australian indigenous peoples with their culture

Introduction & brief

Traditional Cultural Practices

Traditional Cultural Practices’s (TCP) main goal is to help indigenous peoples of Australia, the world oldest living culture, to reconnect and re-establish what was taken from them over the last 200 years. Before Australia was colonised, our indigenous population lived in relative harmony within the environment that surrounded them for literally thousands of years and managed to sustain a huge population from the resources of the land, they were an extension of the land.

The traditional indigenous culture holds valuable lessons hidden within their DNA on right relationship with the environment and if there was ever a time the world needed to listen to what the voice of this culture is saying, it is now.

TCP has taken the unique, but obvious approach of focusing on the voice of the elders from communities all over the country and supporting programs and initiatives that those elders have identified as being what their communities need. This approach is quite different to many organisations as it takes the approach that the people in the direct communities know best what they need.

This approach has seen TCP successfully support many programs and initiatives around the country through on the ground and financial support with assistance from the private and corporate sectors.

If you would like to support TCP or find out more about what they are doing, please visit the TCP website at www.traditionalculturalpractices.org
