New Ceremony
As we age from a new born child through life until death, we go through many changes that in modern western society, go largely unacknowledged. There are of course obvious changes like as a child begins to walk and talk, or from child hood to teenage hood, teenage hood to adult hood, and adulthood to elderly and of course there is death. While modern western society broadly acknowledges these important periods, it is often quite superficially and often more in the form of a party or celebration. Next to these obvious changes, there are also much more subtle internal changes, the affect of which is often far more significant and often more overlooked, if even noticed at all.
These points in our life coincide with chemical changes in our body that allow us to interpret the world in different ways and help us form knowledge and wisdom. These changes are like gateways and by understanding the importance of these changes, we are provided with opportunities to shape how we develop as human beings and how we interact and affect the world around us.
New Ceremony uses the wisdom of elders from both western and indigenous communities that have been brought up acknowledging these changes through ceremony and using the opportunity to initiate and pass on knowledge of the right way of being.
In todays modern westernised society, the internal changes we go through are mostly overlooked and rarely acknowledged.
